MWC 2013: Galaxy Tab 8.0, Samsung's answer to the iPad mini

Placed between the Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy Note, this new tablet is meant to be a competitor of the mini Apple tablet. Its release is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013.

Galaxy Note finally has a little sister (or rather a large ...), and not surprisingly, Samsung has decided to tackle the iPad mini version with its 8-inch touch pad. Presented at the Mobile World Congress, the Galaxy Tab 8.0 runs Android 4.1 and has a touch screen capable of displaying photos and videos in a resolution of 1280x800 pixels with a density of 189 dots per inch. This is better than the iPad mini limited to 1024x768 pixels and 163 dpi for its 7 inch screen.

Available in two versions (3G and Wi-Fi), the Galaxy Note offers a 8.0 configuration with a muscular quadruple heart SoC 1.6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, a 5 megapixel sensor, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, 16 or 32 GB of storage depending on the version of Bluetooth chips and GP and a USB connector. Not to mention the S-Pen stylus that made the success of the Galaxy, with new applications such as Flipboard (for scroll news or photos), Awesome Note or Smart Remote that turns the tablet into a universal remote. As for Air View, it allows you to preview videos, pictures or emails by simply placing the stylus over, without touching the screen.

For now, Samsung has not given tariff, and speaks of an output of the Galaxy Note 8.0 between April and June.
